Creative Break

I have had to take a break from my beloved crafting. I returned to college last summer to become an RN. With my son's disabilities and an unstable economy the decision was an easy one. I have always been interested in the medical field, and after going back to school I am so excited to become a nurse.
All of my crafts have been boxed up until I finish my schooling, and hopefully when I am done I will be able to create again.

In the last few years I have found that dreams don't always come true and plans for the future can die. I wanted to give up, then one day I decided to have a new dream and not worry so much about the future. Life changes to much which in turn changes the future. My new outlook is to enjoy the moment, love, try new things, and not be afraid to fail. Failure can sometimes turn out to be better than the thing you were originally trying for. The hardest lesson I've had to learn is that you can't change the past, but you can use it to shape your future.

T-shirt Memory Quilt

A few years ago I found a box in my garage that was full of all my old sorority t-shirts. I didn't want to throw them out and I didn't want them hidden away where I would forget about them. So I did the next best thing, I turned them into a fun quilt. I cut up all my shirts and printed out pictures on fabric of my friends and I. It lays over the back of my big comfy chair so it's easy to see and cuddle up with. If anyone has old t-shirts and would like them made into a memory quilt please contact me.

First Craft Fair

My first craft fair was successful. I had fun sharing it with my daughter.

Starting a New year

I can't believe we're already 2 months into 2009. I have been busy sketching new things to create, and can't wait to get back into my studio. Now that everyone has settled into their new schools I can get back to work. I have a few new purse shapes I'm working on, and my supply of American Girl Doll clothes no longer exists because of Christmas. So I plan to get the doll clothes stock up again, but before I can get to all that I need to make a Softball banner for my daughters team.

If you are interested in purchasing an item(s) please email me and let me know the item and color. We can also work out details of specialized items. Click on the Flickr slide show to see items I have made and what's still available. New items are added often.

My Brother's Xmas Hat

I am so pleased with the way this hat turned out. Erik graduated from Colorado University, so he is a big Buff Fan.

Now that Christmas has passed I will have more time for projects. I have been doing lots of sketching and can't wait to get started.

Early Xmas Gift

My mom is so great. She took me shopping at Triad Fabrics and look what I got. I can't wait to make some new versions of carpet bags. I had so much fun picking out all the fabrics. Triad is so huge I had a hard time choosing from all the fabrics they have.

I am really looking forward to my first Craft Fair booth tomorrow. Ruhkala Elemenatry School is hosting it. My etsy online store will be up and running this weekend. I wanted to see what my inventory would be after the craft fair before I posted my products.

I will have pictures posted on Saturday from the Craft Fair. My daughter is so excited about my booth that she has asked to help me.

Autism Inspired

I attended the Defeat Autism Now (DAN!) Conference last month. While there I was inspired to create an entire line for Autism. I found a way to make Autism beautiful for me. This is my first piece and there will be more to come. Each purse I make has a hidden pocket in the top of the lining.

I am so excited to finally have my first opportunity to sell my bags. One of my Aunts suggested that I take them to her friends house. Her friend makes amazing jewelry and has an open house before the holidays.

I am looking forward to the feedback and to see if any sell.
